CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - Cedar Rapids police have arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection with the fatal shooting of another teen.
City officials announced Wednesday that police arrested the teen Tuesday and charged him with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the March 18 shooting of 15-year-old Senquez Jackson, who died the next day. Officials say the shooting was unintentional.
The 13-year-old is also charged with carrying weapons, preventing apprehension and obstructing prosecution.
He was taken to the Linn County Juvenile Detention Center.
Officials continue to investigate the shooting.
The Associated Press typically doesn’t identify juveniles charged with crimes.
