HARRISON, Ark. (AP) - An Arkansas sheriff’s office says an Illinois man found unresponsive in his cell likely died of a heart attack.

According to a news release issued Wednesday by the Boone County sheriff’s office, 50-year-old Jeffrey Slaby of O’Fallen, Illinois, was arrested Sunday after a deputy pulled him over for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Deputies say Slaby refused to submit to sobriety tests and was transported to the county detention center.

After he was placed in a cell, deputies later found Slaby unresponsive on the floor. Sheriff Mike Moore says Slaby was alone in the cell, and deputies immediately initiated CPR. Slaby was taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Moore says he contacted the Arkansas State Police to investigate, but foul play is not suspected.
