PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Department of Gaming and Phoenix police have served a search warrant on a suspected illegal gambling business in west Phoenix.

Authorities say Surf Linx had been under investigation for three months before Wednesday’s action that closed the business.

They say one person was arrested in connection to the business and will be facing multiple charges including operating an illegal gaming facility, promotion of illegal gambling and racketeering.

Authorities say seven people who may have been customers inside the business also were arrested for various outstanding warrants or drug offenses and may also face illegal gambling charges.

The names of those arrested weren’t immediately released.

Gaming investigators say Surf Linx was operating as a sweepstakes-based internet cafe.

The gambling operation allowed paying customers to play casino-style games on computers.
