MANSFIELD, La. (AP) - DeSoto Parish authorities have tentatively identified human remains found at a well site.
KTBS-TV (https://bit.ly/1VxwAWU ) reports they’re working to notify the person’s family before they release the name. They also confirmed that the remains are those of a white man.
Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle said a well checker found the skull and assorted other bones Tuesday afternoon. The well is near Interstate 49 and state Highway 175 behind the Exco headquarters.
Two forensics experts from the LSU FACES Lab in Baton Rouge are at the site Wednesday.
The area where the remains were found was under water during recent flooding. No one had been to the site since then.
Arbuckle says the case is being treated as a homicide. It’s still unknown how long the remains had been at the site.
