PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say 10 children and three adults were able to escape a Phoenix house fire.

Fire officials say all 13 residents and their cat made it out unharmed Tuesday night, but the home has severe smoke damage. One of the residents, 29-year-old Alicia Ybarra, says a mattress caught fire but she doesn’t know how.

Ybarra lives in the house with her children, sisters, nephews and nieces.

The American Red Cross is helping the family find a place to stay while the Phoenix Fire Department investigates the cause of the fire.
