BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - Police participated in a low-speed chase through Billings after a woman was seen driving her car on three tires.

The Billings Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/22ckrqG ) that authorities on Tuesday spotted a car with a wheel rim digging into the roadway where a fourth tire should have been.

Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Billings police officers followed the vehicle at speeds between 15 and 26 mph.

Sgt. Kevin Cunningham of the sheriff’s office says police used a spike strip to stop the vehicle, which was damaged on the driver’s side.

Authorities had to break the car windows to get the woman out. Cunningham says it was initially unclear whether the woman had a medical problem of was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

She was taken to a hospital.

Montana Highway Patrol is investigating.
