FAIRFIELD, Calif. (AP) - A Northern California elementary school was briefly locked down after numerous shots were fired nearby, wounding one man.

Police say the shooting in Fairfield occurred about 9 a.m. Wednesday outside Grange Elementary School. Fairfield police say the shooting appears unrelated to the school.

Authorities say a gunshot victim was found nearby and taken to a hospital. Police didn’t release the victim’s name and no arrests were made.

The school’s principal said the school was locked down for about 15 minutes.

Fairfield is about 50 miles northeast of San Francisco.
