COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A fire official says two men accused in an explosion at a vacant home in central Ohio have professed to be members of an anti-government group.
Columbus Fire Division spokesman Steve Martin tells The Columbus Dispatch that a 26-year-old man and a 21-year-old man were arrested after the explosion Tuesday and charged with possession and manufacture of a dangerous ordinance.
Martin says the older man’s hand was injured in the explosion, which was reported by the other suspect in a 911 call. Online court records don’t list charges or attorneys for the two men.
Martin says both men said they’re members of the Sovereign Citizens group that a 2010 FBI report labeled as a group of anti-government extremists who believe they are separate or “sovereign” from the United States.
