OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has upheld the life prison sentence of a 34-year-old woman convicted of beating her boyfriend to death with a baseball bat.
The court handed down the decision Wednesday to Jennifer Ione Timmons, who was convicted of first-degree murder by an Oklahoma County jury in the June 2013 death of 29-year-old Jeffrey Ray Lane.
Timmons was accused of beating Lane with a baseball bat found in a shrub outside her southwest Oklahoma City apartment. Investigators say the victim’s skull was fractured and his blood was found inside her apartment. Timmons’ DNA was found on a cigarette butt near his body, which was stuffed into a sleeping bag and discarded by a trash bin.
Timmons’ attorney, James Lockard, didn’t immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.
