JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Work is scheduled to begin on the next phase of the state Capitol renovation the day after this legislative session is set to end.
Building manager Jeff Goodell says the work, scheduled to begin April 18, will make the Capitol’s front entrance inaccessible. However, he says that as long as session is under way, there will be public access to the building.
By May 2, though, if all goes as scheduled, he says people will be out of the building and workers will be setting up a crane.
The Senate has passed a resolution urging Gov. Bill Walker to call any special session after the regular session ends in a community on the road system.
Juneau Rep. Sam Kito III says he’s confident alternate accommodations could be found in Juneau.
