NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) - Two New Bedford men have been indicted on murder charges in connection with a fatal shooting on New Year’s Eve.
The Bristol district attorney’s office said 23-year-old Aaron Bookman and 24-year-old Angel Acevedo are facing murder and weapons charges in the Dec. 31 killing of 24-year-old Aaron Gant Jr.
Authorities say Gant was shot in the head as he rode in a vehicle in New Bedford around 7:20 p.m. The shots came from a car directly behind the one he was riding in. He died at the hospital.
Acevedo’s girlfriend is charged with obstruction of justice in Gant’s killing. Police allege she lied to investigators about Acevedo’s whereabouts.
Bookman and Acevedo have remained held since their arrests in January. It’s not clear if they have lawyers.
