HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - A pilot and a passenger are safe after the small plane they were in had to make an emergency landing on the fairway of a Hilton Head Island golf course.
A release from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office says the single-engine propeller airplane set down on the 11th fairway of the Dolphin Head course in the Hilton Head Plantation community about 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
The plane was returning to the island from a trip when the pilot set down. The plane was damaged but there were no injuries.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
