DETROIT (AP) - The Michigan attorney general says a Detroit abortion clinic should be shut down because it’s not run by a doctor.
Bill Schuette says he’s filed a lawsuit against Summit Women’s Center. In a statement Thursday, he doesn’t allege any problems with patients but says the clinic is violating state law because of its ownership.
The lawsuit says the owner listed in annual paperwork is not a doctor. A woman who answered the phone at the clinic declined to comment. A website says it offers abortions up to 24 weeks of pregnancy as well as other health services for women.
