MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A south Alabama middle school teacher has been found not guilty of having sexual contact with a student.

Court records show 33-year-old DeAndre Hill (https://bit.ly/1NaQIrp ) was acquitted Wednesday of a misdemeanor charge of being school employee and having sexual contact with a student younger than 19.

Hill taught at Denton Middle School and was charged in 2015. A student had accused him of making inappropriate sexual comments to her while she was in his classroom.

Hill’s attorney Jeff Deen says his client could have struck a deal by surrendering his teacher’s license, but is hoping to continue his career as an educator.
