PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona’s treasurer says he won’t run for re-election when his term ends in 2018.

Treasurer Jeff Dewit tells The Arizona Republic (https://bit.ly/20b8X7k) that he won’t seek a second term after managing the state’s finances for a year and a half.

The former stock trader says he’s fed up with what he sees as politics-as-usual at the state Capitol. He says long-term politicians can make decisions that aren’t in the best interest of the state because of a “favor-factory” mentality.

DeWit says he’s proud of the job he’s done and never wanted to be a life-long politician.

He is the chairman of presidential candidate Donald Trump’s campaign in Arizona but says he has not discussed any possible future role with the Republican front-runner.
