Athens police say 12-year-old shot 7-year-old with BB gun

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Police in Athens arrested a 12-year-old boy they say shot a 7-year-old boy with a BB gun.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1qv6rgu ) that on Monday the older boy told the 7-year-old and another boy he would shoot them if they didn’t empty their pockets. Police said he then shot the 7-year-old in the foot.

Police say the BB went through the 7-year-old’s shoe and caused his foot to bleed. He was taken to a hospital to check whether the BB was stuck in his foot.

The 12-year-old faces an armed robbery charge. He was taken to a youth detention center in Gainesville.
