BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Authorities in Birmingham say a woman whose body was found burning next to a dumpster last month had strangulation marks on her neck.

Angel Buford’s body was found on March 14 by police and firefighters responding to a report of a dumpster fire at an apartment complex. Her body was discovered at 12:14 a.m., and she was pronounced dead five minutes later.

Police had already been investigating the 44-year-old woman’s death as a crime. Police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards tells Al.com (https://bit.ly/23epYml ) the Jefferson County coroner’s office confirmed Buford’s death was a homicide based the strangulation marks.

No one has been arrested in Buford’s killing. Police urge anyone with information about the slaying to call them.
