BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Canadian man arrested by Border Patrol agents in Vermont after they say they caught him smuggling in prescription medicine by sled has reached a deal with federal prosecutors.

The Burlington Free Press reports (https://bfpne.ws/25MraMy ) 21-year-old Cedrik Bourgault-Morin intends to plead guilty to a single charge of possession with intent to distribute.

The Quebec man faces up to five years in prison according to his plea agreement.

Prosecutors say Bourgault-Morin was found with about $1.6 million in prescription medicine after he tripped a sensor while smuggling the drugs across the border in a sled on Jan. 13.

Court documents offered no details regarding where the drugs might’ve been headed.

A provision of the deal stipulates that Bourgault-Morin still could potentially be prosecuted for his involvement in a wider distribution conspiracy.
