PERDIDO KEY, Fla. (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for a missing boater near Pensacola, Florida.

A Coast Guard news release says they ended their search for 62-year-old James Bradley Gunther Thursday afternoon after two days of searching 1,173 square miles.

Family members told the Coast Guard that Gunther left Gulf Shores, Alabama, in a 48-foot boat named Reliant, heading to Port St. Joe, Florida. He hasn’t contacted his family since Saturday.

The boat was found anchored near Fort McRee, Florida, which is on the eastern end of Perdido Key. The Coast Guard says no one was on board, and the small white dinghy that is normally with the vessel hasn’t been located.
