FLINT, Mich. (AP) - Flint residents soon will see credits on water bills as part of a state plan to offer financial relief amid the city’s crisis with lead-tainted water.

Flint’s finance director Jody Lundquist says the first cycle of bills will be printed Friday and mailed. The Flint Journal reports (https://bit.ly/23k7AoU ) she gave the update about the bills Wednesday during a Flint City Council Finance and Administration meeting.

The mailing also will include a flier with information on water use and a detailed letter on how the credits work.

Lawmakers are sending $30 million to Flint to pay for 65 percent of the water portion of bills. Residents are using bottled water or filtered water. For 18 months, Flint used corrosive water from the Flint River, which leached lead from old plumbing.
