WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - A former fugitive will spend 25 years in prison for a fatal ambush on a suburban New York street and the wounding of a witness.
Acting Westchester County District Attorney James A. McCarty says Edwin Palestina of Yonkers, New York was sentenced Thursday for manslaughter and attempted murder. He was arrested in Houston, Texas, in June 2015.
Rodney Saunders was walking into his Yonkers home in May 2014 when two men got out of a minivan and opened fire. He was wounded six times; the fatal shot hit his heart and lungs.
