IRWIN, Pa. (AP) - A former Pennsylvania supermarket manager who allegedly stole $20,000 and a company van before taking a road trip to Florida has apologized and reached a tentative plea agreement with prosecutors.
WTAE-TV (https://bit.ly/1WeFglV ) reports 18-year-old Matthew Kifer, of Irwin, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday because he’s hoping to plead guilty and spend six to 23 months in jail for the incidents last month.
Kifer managed the Shop ’n Save on Route 30 in North Huntingdon Township when he stole the money he was supposed to deposit along with a store-owned van on March 3. He was arrested a few days later by Leon County, Florida sheriff’s deputies after they saw him driving the stolen van without headlights in Tallahassee.
Kifer apologized and said his crimes were “dumb.”
