BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) - About 25 Illinois State University students attended a county board finance meeting to complain that some of their classmates had to wait for hours to cast ballots in last month’s primary election.
The (Bloomington) Pantagraph reports (https://bit.ly/1V0cmGY) the students told board members Wednesday they don’t want it to happen again. McClean County board members will hold a special meeting at the university on the topic before next month.
County Clerk Kathy Michael says she plans to move voting in November to the Brown Ballroom, a much bigger space, bring in more equipment and to more than double the number of election judges from 11 to 25.
She says she still expects lines because of a new state law that requires all polling places to offer same-day voter registration.
