JUNCTION CITY, Ore. (AP) - Officials say Junction City’s police chief who filed a $300,000 lawsuit against the city after he was placed on administrative leave has been fired.
The Register-Guard reports (https://bit.ly/22ebKMz ) that Mark Chase was let go from his position Tuesday. City Administrator Jason Knope says Chase’s firing was the result of “an ongoing personnel issue.”
Chase could not be reached for comment.
He had filed his federal lawsuit against the city in June, alleging his due-process and other rights were violated when he was placed on leave for more than five months in 2014. He also claimed he was discriminated against for his Christian beliefs.
Chase was reinstated as chief after an investigation into his leadership and workplace conduct was complete.
The lawsuit is still pending.
The city has denied Chase’s allegations.
