GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) - A North Carolina man is dead after the tractor he was operating hit a high voltage line in a field in Cherokee County.

Coroner Dennis Fowler tells local media outlets that 66-year-old James Ronald Price of Mooresboro, North Carolina was spraying a wheat field on Wednesday afternoon near the state line when he lifted the spray boom in front of the tractor.

The boom came in contact with a 7,200-volt power line.

The power line caused a fire in the field and emergency personnel responded. That’s when they found Price who was pronounced dead at the scene.
