ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York’s Commission on Judicial Conduct says a village justice from Rockland County should be removed from office, finding he bullied and abused other municipal officials.
The commission says Alan M. Simon, a justice of the Spring Valley Village Court since 2005 and the Ramapo Town Court since 2011, can ask the Court of Appeals to review the finding.
His attorney, Lawrence Mandelker, declined to comment.
According to the commission report, Simon insisted at a hearing that his actions were appropriate under the circumstances and consistent with standards of judicial conduct.
The commission found that he repeatedly threatened people with contempt findings or arrest “over routine personnel or administrative issues in his court.”
