BAILEY, Colo. (AP) - Park County Undersheriff Monte Gore has resigned after getting a $131,000 payout following a shakeup in the wake of an eviction attempt that left one deputy dead and two others wounded.

Gore was placed on leave because of issues in the aftermath of the shooting, and not the incident itself.

According to the Denver Post (https://tinyurl.com/hbb6jp4 ), the separation agreement requires Gore not to speak with the media.

Officials expressed concerns over the way Gore notified the father of Cpl. Nate Carrigan, who was killed in the attack, and other administrative issues.

Gore was not involved in the planning or execution of the eviction of 58-year-old Martin Wirth on Feb. 24.

Police say deputies followed Wirth into his foreclosed mountain home and shots rang out. Deputies returned fire, killing Wirth.
