GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Harrison County authorities say a student was taken into custody after bringing a gun to a Gulfport School.

WLOX-TV reports that Gulfport police were notified Thursday afternoon about the incident at North Gulfport 8th Grade School (https://bit.ly/1S0es5U).

Harrison County School District Superintendent Roy Gill said a student at the school told the principal another student had a gun.

Gill said the school’s resource officer went to a classroom and removed all of the students except for the boy in question. Gill confirmed the officer found a gun tucked inside the boy’s waistband.

School administrators say no one was threatened or hurt. They said the student was still in the custody of Gulfport police Thursday afternoon.
