LISBON, Iowa (AP) - An old emergency radio tower is being moved to help improve communications for police, fire and medical agencies in part of Linn County.

Cedar Rapids television station KCRG reports (https://bit.ly/1Vzs7mQ ) that the new home for the 180-foot tower is near the Lisbon water tower. The county has been struggling with communication dead spots in the Mount Vernon and Lisbon area since Cedar Rapids, Marion and the county coordinated their radio systems.

A study showed that moving the old radio tower from Central City to Lisbon for its new purpose would solve about 90 percent of the dead spot problems.
