KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Allegations of mistreatment against women preceded the resignation of a newly hired Kalamazoo County administrator from Iowa.
The Kalamazoo Gazette (https://bit.ly/1YhYllG ) says Terrence Neuzil vigorously denies the allegations. He says he and his wife are “in shock” and feel “no longer welcome” in southwestern Michigan.
Neuzil’s resignation was accepted Tuesday. He had been on paid leave since March 15 - after just three months on the job. He had moved to Kalamazoo from Iowa’s Johnson County, where he was one of five elected supervisors.
Records released by Kalamazoo County show officials were investigating complaints about discrimination against women. The complaints said Neuzil said he could meet with attractive female employees only in his office with doors open.
He was also accused of other unprofessional conduct toward women.
