SPRINGDALE, Pa. (AP) - Senior citizens have been evacuated from a 90-unit high-rise in southwestern Pennsylvania after a fire was reported.
The fire alarm came in shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday at Springdale Manor, a seven-story complex owned by the Allegheny County Housing Authority.
There were no immediate reports of serious injuries and no clear indication of how large the fire was or what caused it. The fire was reported on the sixth floor.
The residents have been taken by bus to a warming center at the Springdale borough building.
The borough is about 15 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, along the Allegheny River.
