CHAMBLEE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a 3-year-old girl was struck and killed by an SUV while playing near a community playground in DeKalb County.
Chamblee Assistant Police Chief Michael Beller tells news outlets that the unidentified toddler was hit Wednesday evening upon wandering into the parking lot outside her apartment.
Beller says the SUV driver did not seem to have seen the child upon driving up a hill into the parking lot. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the driver has been cooperative. No charges have been filed, as of Wednesday night.
Beller says the girl’s parents were inside at the time of the accident.
