BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A University of Vermont alumnus is going to become the school’s next athletic director.
President Tom Sullivan announced Wednesday at the Patrick Gym that Jeff Schulman will assume the position on July 1, after the retirement of Bob Corran.
Schulman, a 1989 graduate, joined the athletic department in 1993 and has served as the senior associate athletic director for the last 12 years.
He says that one his primary responsibilities will be to lead fundraising efforts for all aspects of the athletic department, including facility improvements.
South Burlington officials in February announced a joint study with UVM to assess the feasibility of constructing a multipurpose arena in the city.
Schulman says he thinks the school can commit to plans for a new facility by the end of the summer.
