SUDBURY, Mass. (AP) - A woman was killed and several members of a girls’ high school rugby team were hurt in a head-on crash involving a car and a school bus in Sudbury.
Police say the driver of the car, 73-year-old Patricia Metz, of Sudbury, suffered serious injuries in the crash at about 4 p.m. Wednesday and was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Authorities confirmed Thursday that she later died.
Of the 25 members of the Algonquin Regional High School girls’ rugby team on the bus, nine were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries. The bus driver, a 43-year-old woman, was also hospitalized.
The Algonquin team was on its way to Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School for a game.
The cause remains under investigation.
