SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (AP) - An emergency medical technician accused of sexually assaulting a female patient in an ambulance while transporting the woman between two western Ohio care facilities has pleaded not guilty.
An attorney for 24-year-old Samuel Conkel entered a not-guilty plea for him on charges of sexual battery and gross sexual imposition Thursday in Springfield. A judge set Conkel’s bond at $15,000.
A message seeking comment was left for Conkel’s attorney.
Authorities say the Beavercreek man works for a transport company that was taking the 52-year-old woman from Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton to a Clark County nursing home.
Authorities say Conkel assaulted the sedated woman while she was being transported on Dec. 11. Court records say DNA evidence from Conkel was recovered from a blanket.
