ABILENE, Texas (AP) - A grand jury has indicted a 29-year-old Abilene man on a charge of endangering a child after the baby earlier this year was found malnourished and in danger of dying.

Justin Clay Heiser was being held on $50,000 in the Taylor County Jail after the grand jury’s indictment Thursday.

The Abilene Reporter-News (https://bit.ly/1qbVAqQ ) reports emergency crews were called to the home Jan. 4 after receiving call that an infant had stopped breathing.

Court documents show hospital doctors told police the 4½-month-old child, Angelica Mayhall, was extremely malnourished and dehydrated and in danger of death when she was brought in.

Her birth weight was listed at 6 pounds, 15 ounces. When admitted, she was 6 pounds, 5 ounces.

Heiser is described as one of several people living at the house.
