FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - Five Alabama start-up companies earned portions of $240,000 in a competition finale to increase growth of those companies.

The Times Daily (https://bit.ly/1qARhWT ) reported Friday that the companies walked away with the winnings at the Alabama Launchpad, a 10-year organization that has helped economic development in the state. The finale was hosted at the University of North Alabama on Thursday.

Daily Drip took home $100,000, TechnoTable was awarded $70,000, XpertDox received $40,000, and Alternavisit and White’s Environmental Solutions each earned $15,000. The awards were based on financing pitches by the finalists and the judges belief in companies goals and growth projections.

Funding from Alabama Launchpad will be used to create ground water monitoring wells and a leachate pond at the processes site.
