LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - The warehouse crew at Country Boy Brewing is honoring country music legend Merle Haggard with a stamp on the bottom of its cans this week.

One of the company’s owners, Daniel Harrison, told the Lexington Herald-Leader (https://bit.ly/1Wg5yUH ) the workers are country music fans and when they heard of Haggard’s death Wednesday, they decided to put a message on the cans.

“The guys in the back in the house … are big country music fans, and it wasn’t planned, but it just happened,” Harrison said.

On Thursday morning, warehouse worker Steve Caudill added a date stamp on the bottom of Cougar Bait cans that read “R.I.P. Merle.”

The workers sent Harrison a photo of the stamp, which he then posted on Facebook. Once the photo was posted online, people started calling and saying they wanted the cans.

“We didn’t think it would be such a hit,” Harrison said.

There are about 2,800 six-packs of Cougar Bait with the memorial stamp, making their way to stores. Harrison said people can also stop by the Lexington taproom and ask for one.
