FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - Many customers of Alaska telecommunications company General Communications, Inc. have been left without service due to a significant cable break affecting communities statewide.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports (https://bit.ly/1qbFAFm ) that GCI officials say the cable broke Thursday knocking out wireless, Internet and television services.

Crews worked to repair the broken fiber Thursday into the evening hours. A statement from the company says they are investigating the cause of the break and that they do not yet have an estimated time of service restoration.
