FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - The Arctic Man event in Alaska’s interior is set to resume on Friday after it was postponed Thursday because of poor visibility.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner (https://is.gd/3PWvEg) reports the race is scheduled to resume at 11 a.m. Friday if the weather permits.

Arctic Man is a race in which a downhill skier or snowmobiler glides down a mountain, grabs a towline behind a snowmobile, gets pulled up a second peak and skis down to the finish line.

The event was halted Thursday afternoon.

Also of concern are unstable avalanche conditions in the Eastern Alaska Range. Since Wednesday, at least three avalanches have occurred within view of the Arctic Man competition’s main camp.
