PHOENIX (AP) - Construction is under way to replace the stone exterior outside of Maricopa City Hall.

City of Maricopa officials say the project is expected to take 10 to 12 weeks and will look identical to the current exterior. Assistant to the city manager Jennifer Brown says the repairs are covered under the building’s warranty and will not cost the city extra funding.

The building’s stone face is in need of renovation because workers improperly installed it. The renovation will add expansion joints between the stone sheets to better withstand changes in temperature.
