PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say a 9-year-old has been hospitalized after he accidentally shot his left hand in south Philadelphia.
Chief Inspector Scott Small tells The Philadelphia Inquirer (https://bit.ly/1VcEshL ) that police were called just before 10 p.m. on Thursday to the city’s Grays Ferry neighborhood, where the boy wounded himself in his parents’ bedroom.
Small says the boy found a handgun behind the bed and it went off, shooting him in the hand. Investigators found the gun on the bed, a bullet hole in the wall and a trail of blood leading out the front door.
The boy’s mother took him to a hospital, where he’s in stable condition.
