RAWLINS, Wyo. (AP) - Rawlins is drawing up a plan to deal with geese and deer inside the city limits.

The Rawlins Daily Times reported Thursday (https://tinyurl.com/jyq6w9x) the City Council is working with Wyoming Game and Fish on a management policy for Canada geese that linger at the Rochelle Ranch Golf Course during migration and mule deer that live in town.

Officials say geese munch on the golf course grass and their feces damages greens and ponds. As many as 140 geese occupy the course during nesting season.

Interim City Manager Scott Hannum says state wildlife officials believe 165 to 185 mule deer live in the city.

The council may discuss the proposed policy on April 19. The city would have to conduct a public hearing before finalizing it.
