SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy helped save a man’s life while in Hawaii at the end of March.
The Spokesman-Review reports (https://goo.gl/EXoEAv ) Deputy Darin Powers was checking in to a Maui resort on the afternoon of March 27 when someone ran into the lobby screaming for help at the pool.
Powers says he ran and found a man unresponsive, not breathing and with no pulse.
Officials say Powers and a doctor who was there performed CPR and after several minutes, the man started breathing.
Powers says emergency responders arrived shortly thereafter, flying the man in his 50s to a hospital where he was put in a medically-induced coma for two days.
He has since been released and is expected to make a full recovery.
Powers says he’s glad he was there.
