DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - One eaglet has hatched in a nest on Alcoa Davenport Works’ property, and eagle-watchers are eagerly waiting for the other egg to hatch.

Alcoa spokesman John Riches tells the Quad-City Times (https://bit.ly/1VHusMD ) that he saw the hatchling just before 4 p.m. Friday.

A month ago, Riches predicted the eggs would hatch around April 7 or 8. An adult eagle pair, Liberty and Justice, have returned to the nest annually for the past several years.

Riches says he expects the second egg to hatch Saturday or Sunday.

Since building the nest in 2009, Liberty and Justice have produced two to three eggs per year since the spring of 2010. They have fledged eight eaglets, one of which did not survive.
