WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) - A former New Berlin West High School teacher has pleaded not guilty to having sex with a student.

Twenty-eight-year-old Sara Domres, of Sullivan, was released on $1,000 bail after a court appearance Friday. Her next court date is May 4.

The criminal complaint says the boy was in Domres’ English class in the 2014-15 school year. It alleges they had sex in the backseat of her car last July when he was 16. It alleges they had sex again last October when he was 17 at a Brookfield motel. And it says they exchanged more than 1,000 text messages.

School officials learned of the allegations in January. Domres was fired after an internal investigation.

In a letter to parents, Superintendent Joe Garza says the allegations are “troubling, disappointing and incomprehensible.”
