MARATHON, Fla. (AP) - Two Florida runners have taken top honors in the annual footrace over the longest bridge that helps comprise the Florida Keys Overseas Highway.

Josh Peterson, 23, of Boca Raton, finished first Saturday, among 1,500 participants. His finish in 38 minutes and 57 seconds claimed the overall men’s title at the Seven Mile Bridge Run.

Laura DiBella, 37, of Fernandina Beach, won overall women’s in 43:00.

Michael Stone, 36, of Fort Lauderdale, finished second and Ryan Vanorman, 16, of Rockford, Michigan, placed third in the men’s division.

Morgan Hull, 20, of Gainesville, placed second and Helena Bursa, 40, of Big Pine Key, was third in the women’s division.



The competition debuted in 1982 to mark the end of a federally funded program to build 37 new Keys bridges.
