MINOT, N.D. (AP) - Officials believe sparks from railroad tracks ignited several grass fires in western North Dakota.

KXMC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1qes1Fh ) that the fires occurred Friday along state Highway 52 near Carpio, in Ward County.

Crews from Carpio and Berthold responded Friday afternoon.

Berthold Fire Chief Richard Blahut says the fires were contained to about 10 acres between the tracks and the highway.

Blahut says there are no burn bans in the county at present, but any burning should be closely monitored.
