MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Agency of Transportation is installing a temporary bridge on Route 100 in Duxbury as a first step in its replacement of a large, failing culvert beneath the roadway.
The temporary bridge will be going in this weekend and crews expect to have alternating lanes of traffic open while the structure is installed.
The Transportation Agency says recent inspections have shown that the culvert that carries Crossett Brook beneath the road is deteriorating, resulting in signs of cracking and sagging in the northbound lane pavement.
Route 100 was reduced to one lane over the culvert late last week.
