AMBLER, Pa. (AP) - A 19-year-old man is accused of killing his mother and her boyfriend last month by shooting them several times inside the suburban Philadelphia home the three shared.

Prosecutors in Montgomery County on Wednesday charged Joshua Trunk with the slayings of 54-year-old Janice Trunk and 44-year-old Kevin Milton Smith in Ambler on July 31.

The probable cause affidavit says both victims appeared to have been shot while lying under the covers in bed.

Both victims were shot more than once in the head, and Janice Trunk was also wounded in her hand and shoulder.

Detectives say Joshua Trunk had been hospitalized recently and allege he was motivated by increasing paranoia.

Joshua Trunk has been in jail since shortly after the killings.

He doesn’t have a defense lawyer listed in court records.
